Start close to home

My paternal Grandfather died in 1995. Fifteen years later, our family opened my Grandmother’s hope chest and discovered his medals and service records. It reminded us all of the life he had before he was a father and grandfather. What he did when he was really just a child himself.

The link below is to his military site on Ancestry. In the coming year, I would like to send off for his full package of records. I got them for my maternal Grandfather CW and it was a fascinating look into his life and the war effort.

Research for Granddaddy John’s military page.

Update: Unfortunately, Ancestry has retired military pages and some of the data that I entered on this page was removed in the conversion to an archive page. I was not happy to discover the loss of the info I spent hours typing into that page. Luckily, I still have it, but will need to find a new location for the information in digital form.
